My world is formed on a fundamental premise: everything is connected.

The people we meet share the same roots as ourselves,

and all plants and animals are, in the end, branches that extend from LUCA(Last Universal Common Ancestor).

Planets like Earth are bodies shaped by stars like the Sun.

From this foundation,

I interpret everyday life through a broad perspective—the connection

between myself and others, between myself and the world, and between myself and life itself.

 

When an event occurs,

I contemplate what it means to me and within my life. When I encounter someone,

I observe how their world interacts with mine.

Everything

that a person named

Ryu Min-hyo experiences and senses while living with this perspective becomes the material of my paintings.

As a result, my work naturally comes to contain themes such as the self, us, the world, and the cosmos.

​

Recently, I have been focusing on expressing these sensations through abstract imagery.

Each color carries its own power and character,

and I consider how these colors exist—at what scale, in which position, and within what context.
